production history
Working with our partners Woodshed Collective, Iron Bloom brought to life a series of waiting rooms, hallways, observations rooms and a doctor’s office for Does It Hurt When I Do This?, an interactive theatrical experiment. The space, an empty apartment in a 400 year old Customs House by South Street Seaport, was entirely converted. Adding new walls, to divide spaces and back rooms, running infrastructure for embedding lights, sound and show control, we created a space that looked like a doctor’s office and waiting room, but had the technical capacities of theatrical lights and sound. We constructed a control room, to both run the show and for audience to observe parts of the this piece, inducting them into the experiment.
